One of two third year long projects which involved designing and implementing in a team of two, an image compression algorith. Firstly the Discrete Cosine and Discrete Wavelet Transforms were analysed and then a JPEG-like algorithm was implemented using MATLAB to compress any given image to a bitrate of 50,000 bits. The resulting algorithms from many teams were compared in a competition.
