We’re in Pluckey, Kent for a couple of days with Helen’s uncle and aunt. So far we’ve been for a really nice walk in the countryside and had some great food.
Today we’re off out for a day trip, although not exactly sure where yet.
Anyway, should be fun! And we’re back in Coventry on Wednesday night!
I’ve just downloaded the WordPress application for my iPod Touch and am writing this post from my iPod!
It’s amazing really – can’t quite believe it’s this easy to write on my blog.
I really can’t wait to get an iPhone…
On Sunday, Helen and I went to Cambridge to meet up with a few friends and see my sister. It was a really nice time as we spent the time as tourists by going punting and wandering around the shops (although not slowly like the stupid tourists that wander around at 0.01mph!). It was great to relax and enjoy the place.
Now we’re back in Witney with Helen’s family which is great, but it has also meant we’ve had to start doing job searching again. I’ve just finished putting together my CV which I’ve managed to send off to a couple of places. Also, Paul is kindly helping me put together a new design for my online CV website, so hopefully that will be live soon.
Anyway, is it really worth getting a job when the stresses of writing CVs, covering letters and then sending them off by far outweighs the fun that can be had on a day visiting a lovely town in England? I think really I do want to get a job soon though… just still looking for that perfect job!
I’ve finally finished sorting out my CV (barring the odd small change or two) and now am in a position to send it off to some companies to see if I can get some interviews and then maybe some job offers.
There’s a couple of companies I’ve liked the look of, so I think they are good places to start and then I’ll just see what happens from there. I’m looking at engineering consultants and general engineering companies at the moment, but it’s just so hard to find a company that looks like they’ll be doing the sort of work I want to go into.
But anyway, wish me luck for finding something!
I had my first slight issue with Leopard today. Basically I tried to plug my iPod touch in, but iTunes wouldn’t recognise it at all! It’s really strange, but I’m going through a troubleshooting process which is outlined on the Apple support website and hopefully that will work. I’m not sure if the issue is Leopard specific, but it was working fine before I upgraded, so I guess it must be something that Leopard did when it installed which decided to break iPod touch support.
Oh well, fingers crossed that this fix will all work smoothly.
Having come back from travelling and using my MacBook all over the world I decided it was time to give it some TLC and install the new version of Mac OS X on it. Well, Leopard is absolutely amazing.
I hadn’t ever installed a copy of Mac OS X because the only time I’ve dealt with setting it up has been on new Macs which come with it pre-installed. The installation was extremely smooth and I didn’t have any problems what-so-ever. I bought the family pack so it’s on my Dad’s iMac and my MacBook at the moment and I’ll install it on my Dad’s iBook and Helen’s Mac Mini soon.
The advantages of Mac over Microsoft really showed with Leopard. For a start, the price is amazing. I remember the days of Windows where a single license would cost around £150 and that was for the Home edition (read, crap edition). Leopard came with FIVE licenses (all for the same household) and cost a mere £129. I dread to think how much it would cost to upgrade a family’s PCs from Windows XP to Windows Vista. The second advantage was the installation process – absolutely perfect. The third advantage was that the upgrade works on every Mac hardware we own and that’s including some items from a few years ago. Vista hardly works on new hardware, let alone hardware that’s over a year old!
Anyway, that’s just my very quick review of the installation of Leopard, maybe I’ll write with some of my findings with Leopard soon.
[Can't wait to get an external hard drive and try out Time Machine!]

As many people will know, having just come back from 10 months of travelling, I’m actively searching for a job. Well, to be more precise, a career. It’s been a bit of a struggle at the moment because I have had one offer but I turned it down because it’s not really what I want to do long term and they want me to start ASAP, when what I really want to do is have some time over the summer to really decide what I want to do.
I’ve been really looking into the world of technology & engineering and found a few interesting companies, but none really stick out to me. The other option is setting up a business, which is something I’d really like to do, but I think it’s a project for the future.
Anyway, I’m going to apply to a few companies and see what they have to offer.
I have decided to create a new blog because my old one was getting pretty old and I didn’t really like the theme. So, I deleted the old one and started again with a brand spanking new Wordpress installation.
The theme I’m using is a Mac style theme called GlossyBlue made by “n.design studio”.
I guess that doing this today has been some sort of procrastination as I’m meant to be job hunting… But more on that later – I’ll post all about it soon!
